How does Chivalry 2 compare to its predecessor or to its rival Mordhau (2024)

Chivalry 2 will appeal to fans of Mordhau, Chivalry 1, Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord as well as general MMO PVP fans.

The game features a variety of classes, with each of those, in turn, having their own subclasses and abilities.

The first class is, historically, the deadliest one on medieval battlefields. the archers are masters of bow and arrow, capable of sniping enemies from afar.

The next class are the, often romanticized, knights. As all-rounders, knights are the best class for beginners to use and learn the game and mechanics with.

The footmen, on the other hand, are the backbone of every army. In Chivarly they take on a more supporting role, with every subclass having a bandage kit to disperse for allies as healing.

And the last, but definitely not the least, are the Vanguard. This is the class that goes hard, or goes home, with the highest attack damage, but the lowest health pool of all melee classes.

When comparing Chivalry 2 to the original Chivalry, the first thing that must be mentioned is the scale of the game. The battlefields are larger, with more participating players, and the usage of modern graphics is evident in everything, from armor and weapons to the map. The combat system has remained basically the same, but it flows more smoothly and does have some more options for outplaying opponents.

Comparing Chivalry 2 to Mordhau, however, is a different thing altogether. Chivalry 2 has taken a different course, with the roleplaying aspect and emotes, making the game less edgy, even with all the blood and dismemberment around. It would appear that the kind of community Chivalry 2 is trying to create is a friendly LARPing, or HEMA, community, metaphorically speaking, rather than the sparring with no training, with sharp blades feel community Mordhau has.
